As a Mississippi wedding photographer, I am often asked about wedding venues for my couples! One of my absolute favorites is The Crawford House in Hattiesburg, MS. It is one of my favorite venues to photograph. In fact, I actually had my own bridals taken here!
Built nearly a century ago, the Crawford House in Hattiesburg, MS stands as a testament to classic architecture reminiscent of an Italian villa. Its sweeping staircase and expansive front porch overlook two acres of lush, tree-lined grounds, providing a stunning backdrop for wedding photographs. The estate’s rich history adds depth and character, making it an ideal choice for couples desiring a venue with a story.
Built in 1925, the original house was built by W.W. Crawford in a neo-Classical Revival style. The house itself is 4,800 square feet. Mr. Crawford, a Hattiesburg doctor, resided there with his wife. Over the years, it flipped back and forth from a resident to an event venue. The House was owned by the Crawfords until 1973.

What’s Included
All packages include exclusive use of the historical home and gardens, tables and chairs for up to 99 guests, two planning meetings with the venue’s team, and day-of vendor coordination. The estate’s flexible food and beverage policy allows couples to select their preferred caterers, ensuring a personalized culinary experience. Additionally, you have one hour the day before the wedding for wedding rehearsal (if available).
Additional Guest Spaces / Overnight Stays
While the Crawford House itself does not allow overnight stays, you do have other options for out of town members of your bridal party. Just a block away, the owners have an additional guesthouse for rent. This 100 year old brick craftsman style cottage has 6 bedrooms, 7 beds and 3 full baths. With this in mind, this would make an ideal spot for bridesmaids to stay overnight.

The first time I saw the Crawford House in Hattiesburg, MS was several years ago. I was taking a drive around downtown Hattiesburg. At the time, it was more a historic “ruin,” if you will. Nevertheless, I remember thinking what an amazing backdrop it could be. Even then, it wasn’t as spruced up with new paint and freshly planted gardens! Since then, Monica and her team have truly worked hard on restoring this beautiful century-old mansion.
The grounds itself looks like you walked into the English countryside. It reminds me of my trips to the UK and visiting many of their national heritage sites and beautiful stately homes. This is one of the many reasons the Crawford House is one of my favorites! The actual house is reminiscent of an Italian villa…. it’s just so beautiful! With this in mind, you truly will not feel like you’re in Mississippi (apart from the weather!).
As a photographer, I find that The Crawford House Hattiesburg MS a dream location. I have taken engagement sessions, bridals, and senior photos here! The grand staircase, fountain circle, and various garden paths provide stunning backdrops for both candid and posed shots.
